Ivanti / Wavelink Telnet terminal emulators (TE) or Telnet clients are pre-installed on some devices and, in some cases, they are also pre-licensed. In such a case there is no need to buy the Ivanti / Wavelink license. Otherwise, each device requires one license to be purchased, which is portable (so it is not tied to a specific device).

Ivanti / Wavelink Telnet can be downloaded from www.wavelink.com/download. It is recommended to download and use the latest TE version even for pre-installed devices.
There is a new generation emulation client called Ivanti Velocity pre-installed and pre-licensed on the newer Zebra Android devices like the TC8000, TC8300, MC33+MC33x with a pistol grip, MC93, VC80x, VC8300 and WT6000. These devices are not pre-installed and/or pre-licensed with legacy Wavelink TE.
Please note that no terminal emulation is pre-licensed on the WT6300 and any versions of the MC3300ax.

Ivanti Avalanche can be recommended especially in situations where the customer uses a Microsoft Windows CE/Windows Mobile device and uses one of Ivanti Wavelink's client programs as an end application: terminal emulation (TelnetCE), VelocityCE or Wavelink Industrial Browser. It is the interoperability with Ivanti Wavelink products that makes the deployment of Avalanche attractive in terms of easier implementation and subsequent operation of such an ecosystem.
In other cases, especially for managing Android OS devices, it is more practical to use Soti MobiControl (on-premise or cloud) or 42Gears SureMDM (cloud).
Právě provázanost s produkty Ivanti Wavelink hovoří pro nasazení Avalanche, a to z hlediska jednodušší implementace a pak i následného provozu takového ekosystému.
V ostatních případech, zejména pro správu zařízení s Android OS je praktičtější použití Soti MobiControl (on-premise nebo cloud) nebo 42Gears SureMDM (cloud).
You need to run MCL Client to use an application developed by MCL Desginer for MT2000 for that scanner. MCL Client interprets MCL code of the application.
Symbol MT2070 barcode scanners have MCL Client pre-installed and pre-licensed within its factory default settings. Thus, except of a specific MCL application no additional MCL license is needed. On the other hand Symbol MT2090 barcode scanners have MCL Client only pre-installed but not pre-licensed. To run an MCL application on them you have to buy also MCL Client license for each MT2090 scanner.
Data transmission is maintained usually through MCL Link Lite V3 for MT2000 or MCL Link V3. While MCL Link Lite is a free utility and can utilize only limited number of communication ports MCL Link is a licensed software and offers full communication capabilities for batch data transfer between MT2000 and PC.
On Zebra mobile terminals with Android OS, the PTT Express client, formerly Workforce Connect PTT Express, is pre-installed. The client provides a simple Push-To-Talk (PTT) voice solution with group call and private response capabilities across a single network subnet. The PTT Express solution uses Wi-Fi infrastructure and requires no servers or PBX integration.
Until Android 8.1 (Oreo), PTT Express was pre-licensed, in other words, no license had to be purchased. For Android 10 and above, every device where PTT Express is used must be licensed. This is a perpetual license, its SKU is WFCPTTE-EXPR-T1-PRD.
The WiNG stands for Wireless New Generation. Symbol Technologies, forerunner of Motorola, Zebra and Extreme Networks, launched this marketing term in the times of wireless switches WS5100 in the moment when they release the third generation of their firmware. In that time (beginning of 2007) it was a breaking firmware with completely new user interface and Cisco-like command line interface.
The third wireless switches firmware called WiNG 3 appeared also in the first units of Motorola RFS6000 RF controllers. WiNG 4 followed on RFS4000, RFS6000 and RFS7000. It brought Wireless Firewall and AP650 support. The lates version is WiNG 5. It is already available for all the RFS controller series, ie. RFS4000, RFS6000, RFS7000 and whole NX platform. Wi-NG 5 is known for its advanced support of Dependent and Adaptive APs including AP650, AP621, AP-6511, AP-6521, AP-6532, AP-7131, AP-7522 and AP7532. CLI is slightly different from WiNG 4. Completely different is the web user interface which is Flash and not the Java any more. WiNG 5 is ready for robust WLAN implementations with many RF controllers and access points. The WiNG 5 does not support AP-5131 or AP100 access point any more.
Decide on the Wi-Fi standard used: 802.11ac, 802.11ac Wave 2, 802.11ax.
Define if coverage in the 2.4 GHz and/or 5 GHz band is to be implemented. Access points can be purchased in configurations with one, two or even three radios. The higher the number of radios, the higher the price of the AP.
Design the number and location of APs based on signal measurements at the sites to be covered (site survey).
Decide on the use of an RF controller for central AP management or to increase network security.
Dependent Access Point can work only when having a working connectivity to an RF controller (Motorola RFS4000, RFS6000, RFS7000, NX4500, NX6500, NX9500). Dependent AP has a 3-digits numbering: AP621, AP622, AP650. When the connectivity between Dependent AP and RF controller is broken or if RF controller fails the wireless LAN service is discontinued. That's why a redundant RF controller is recommended when Dependent APs are utilized.
Independent Access Point can work without any dependency on an RF controller. Optionally, it can be managed by an RF controller. Dependent AP has 4-digits numbering: AP-6511, AP-6521, AP-6522, AP-6532, AP-7131. Independent APs are usually more expensive than Dependent APs. Independent AP are suitable for smaller WLAN deployments (without RF controller) or for installtations on remote sites in large WLAN deployments.
Extreme WiNG (formerly Zebra, Motorola and Symbol) Wi-Fi components are using the following default credentials:
Note: The default password on Wi-NG 5 devices must be changed by the first login.
Since Android 13, Zebra has used extended XML (eXML), which is correlated with the use of different barcodes generated with StageNow. You need StageNow version 5.9 or higher to create these barcodes. In the Publish section, the software will offer you to generate 4 different types of barcodes:
Zebra/Symbol/Motorola running Android 4.4 KitKat or later OS can be reset to their factory defaults by the following simple steps:
Note: Zebra devices also support a special type of reset called "Enterprise reset". This type of reset does NOT delete /enterprise folder, dedicated internal SD card and external SD card.
Below is a summary of what Zebra Android device resets affect:
Reset Type | /data | /enterprise | Emulated Internal SD Card |
Dedicated Internal SD Card |
External SD Card |
Enterprise Reset | Erase | Persist | Erase | Persist | Persist |
Factory Reset | Erase | Erase | Erase | Persist | Persist |
Full Factory Reset (with SD) | Erase | Erase | Erase | Erase | Erase |
